Mylly-Mäkelä is a camping site for caravanners and campers in the village of Kaukela/Arrakoski in the municipality of Padasjoki in Päijät-Häme province, maintained by SF-Caravan Länsi-Päijänne association. The landscape area is surrounded by the clear-water Myllyjärvi lake.
During the summer, a host is on duty to meet visitors and, if necessary, other permanent place holders help. The site offers essential services for self-driving, nature-oriented caravanners. In autumn, winter and spring the area operates as a self-service area. There are no rooms or cottages for rent.
Finnish Sauna Experience 🧼🚿🪵
The highly praised wood-fired lakeside sauna is heated every evening during the summer. For detailed sauna times for men and women, please refer to the price list/sauna. The sauna includes a washroom with a shower, and the cosy fireplace room serves as a dressing room during sauna hours. The shower water is heated in a cauldron using firewood. You can swim in the refreshing lake.
Additional amenities
Additional amenities include grill hut, water points, dishwashing facilities, a septic tank, electricity, composting toilets year-round, and water toilets in summer. LPG is sold on-site. A rowing boat and life jackets are available free of charge.
The drinking water is safe to use in reasonable amounts, although it contains slightly elevated levels of fluoride. Filtered drinking water is available from the tap located in the dishwashing place by the sauna.
Please note that open fires are only permitted inside the grill hut.

Please note that visitor opening depend on snow conditions in spring. During winter period, the area is only open to permanent place holders.
Area host on duty 2025 🙋♀️💁
Daily from June 16 to August 31, and on three weekends in September: 5.-7.9., 12.-14.9. and 19.-21.9.
At other times, the area operates on a self-service basis.
The host on duty is responsible for guiding, charging visiting fees, heating the sauna and cleaning. Host duty is a rotating assignment in the area.

The accommodation period ends at 3 pm (15.00).
Children must be under the supervision and responsibility of their guardians while in the area.
We want to keep the area quiet at night between 11 pm - 7 am (23.00 - 7.00).
✅ You may use electric or gas grills. For safety reasons, charcoal grills and open fires are not permitted. This is due to fire hazards, sparks, and odor nuisance.
Pets are welcome.

Payments are made by card during the host on duty hours. At other times, payments are made to the Association's account within seven days. No cash payment.
During the host on duty days, please return the completed passenger declaration form to the host.
The passenger declaration form must be completed in the same way as in hotels, and this is based on the law.
Sauna & shower
The fee includes the use of the sauna on public sauna days. Every day in summer. Sauna shifts are during the host on duty times are:
Women 6 pm - 7.30 pm (18.00 - 19.30)
Men 7.30 pm - 9 pm (19.30 - 21.00)
The private sauna, 1 hour per time, can be reserved two hours before or after the public sauna times. See the pricelist, other fees.
The shower can also be used outside of sauna times. When using the shower, you can place the "Reserved" sign (Varattu in Finnish), which can be found hanging in the corner, in front of the terrace. The host usually heats the water in the morning, but you can light the stove if needed. Heating takes time, so please be patient.
Outside of host shifts, the area is a self-service area and the sauna and shower water are heated as required.
